There is an important action tomorrow(thursday) at 4:30 pm, City Hall Park. All are invited, and are encouraged to bring camera’s of their choosing : ) The event will go from 4:30 pm till 6 pm.

    Dear Picture NY,

Your fight to allow our right to continue to film & photograph in NYC is paramount. I am a director in Hollywood and know intimately the red tape and expense required to create a studio production anywhere in the world. The only way independent voices can continue to be heard is to remove the barriers to production, not increase them. Technology had finally put the camera in the hands of ALL citizens, not just the privileged few. To reverse that trend would be against our right to freedom of expression, the very thing we spend trillions of dollars to create in the Middle East. Let’s get President Bush to back this effort by putting his mouth where his money is…

Good luck and I’d be happy to support your efforts in anyway I can.

    Sincerely,
    Brent McCowan

    Dear Mayor,
We were in NYC in March for three (expensive) days. We took pictures. We watched filmmakers in Little Italy film juggling and clowning. We watched Samantha B demonstrating energy saving (fire) lamps outside the Daily Show studios. What a great trip! What a wonderful city.
What’s your point? I think to give law enforcement access to SUSPICIOUS people. That’s nuts, anti free speech and UNAmerican. Please rethink your plan.

Dear Peacists [my word, dedicated to my 6 grandkids, and yours’ and theirs’],

My 20 years of producing “Speaking Out on Grand Rapids and Global Issues” [just me, alone, the committee fell apart, predictably] here on Public Access GRTV has included a bus-load to NYCity videotaping views and interviews on peace, justice and environment issues.
Does this new restriction include us tourists/activists/concerned citizens? How will this affect the warm spot in our hearts for The Big Apple? Will I not be allowed to freely ask you: Tell us who you are and why you are here? Will you not feel free to answer and comment? What precedence does this set? WHY?

You surely will reconsider and use mature judgement on dictating picturing there !

I called the Mayors office and they said that the NY Civil Liberty Union filed a law suit that is forcing the city to put forth this ordinance. They said contact the NYCLU and tell them to drop the law suite if we do not want any ordinance…Whats up with that???
